Lyles & King seeks a motivated, detail-oriented Assistant Director. This role is ideal for someone ready to
be an integral part of a growing downtown gallery. Applicants should be organized, proactive, punctual, and find pleasure and meaning in working with contemporary artists. The successful candidate possesses an acute attention to detail, a positive attitude, and a desire to grow with the gallery. Qualified applicants will have at least three years of experience working in a commercial gallery.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Cultivate relationships with collectors and curators.
- Stewardship of the sales process from initiation to delivery/installation.
- Managing exhibition logistics: including shipping, installation, and consignments.
- Preparing art fair applications and managing art fair logistics
- Database management: using Artlogic to manage and update gallery inventory.
- Creating and updating artist dossiers and press materials.
- Answering phone calls and greeting visitors.
Applicant must have the following skills and traits:
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented.
- Independent problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated.
- Strong communication and writing skills.
- A positive attitude.
- Solid knowledge of contemporary art and art history.
- A collaborative spirit.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree.
Preferred candidates will be versed in:
- Adobe Suite.
- Database programs such as Artlogic, Artbinder, or Art Base.
- Squarespace.
Position is Tuesday through Saturday from 10am - 6pm with additional hours as needed for exhibition
openings, art fairs, and other events.
Salary commensurate with experience.
