Description

Position Overview

SAAL is seeking a Sales Manager to oversee all client-facing initiatives, drive new sales opportunities, steward existing relationships, and manage sales operations with precision and discretion. The Sales Manager will work closely with the founder on business development strategies that align with SAAL’s curatorial mission.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and deeply passionate about fine art, design, and literature. They are experienced in high-end sales and client relationship management and are deeply committed to representing SAAL’s philosophy in every interaction.


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and send previews of exhibitions, art fairs and auctions on behalf of founder
  • Create and send sales offers and outreach on behalf of founder 
  • Interact with prospective and existing clients and conduct viewings on founder’s behalf
  • Facilitate post-sale process with founder
  • Manage post-sale logistics, including invoicing, shipment coordination, and client communication
  • Manage founder’s outreach and sales activity in inventory database 
  • Manage founder’s contacts in contact database
  • Identify and research new potential sales targets
  • Proactively curate offer ideas for existing clients
  • Coordinate end-to-end movement of collection items (from auction house to storefront to warehouse to client)
  • Manage inventory, collection, and client databases (Shopify, ArtLogic, Sheets) ensuring timely updates and accuracy
  • Update exhibition and collection databases (ArtLogic, Shopify, Sheets)
  • Perform directed collection research and maintaining curatorial files
  • Inventory SKU management & new product uploads
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with existing clients while expanding SAAL’s collector and collaborator network
  • Coordinate and host private viewings, walk-throughs, and client meetings both on-site and virtually
  • Collaborate with the founder on sales strategies, collection research, and client proposals
  • Uphold the highest standard of communication, professionalism, and discretion in all dealings


Skills and Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in gallery, design, auction house, or luxury sales role(s)
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to cultivate meaningful relationships with high-net-worth individuals
  • Existing client relationships
  • Exceptional understanding, interest, and knowledge of furniture and design terms
  • Excellent understanding of art & design history, the decorative arts, textiles, and construction techniques
  • Familiarity with the New York School and/or self-taught artists
  • Solutions and deadline driven with excellent organizational skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
  • Experience in handling rare, antique materials
  • Experience with high profile clientele
  • In-house gallery experience preferred
  • Ability to work discreetly and independently

  • Proficiency in Shopify, ArtLogic, Google Workspace, and CRM tools

  • Familiarity with auction houses, exhibitions, fairs, estate sales, and sourcing rare or unique objects a plus
  • Ability to lift moderately heavy boxes, move items to and from shelves, climb ladder, wheel carts with collections items through the property, and tolerance for moderate levels of dust and odor generated during normal collections management activities and movement of objects
  • Editorial, curatorial and/or art handling background preferred
  • No minimum educational qualification; self-directed learning impetus & implicit demonstrable interest in the arts & literature paramount to institutional qualifications
