Description
Established contemporary art gallery in Chelsea is seeking a full-time personal assistant to the founding director. Successful candidates for this position will be exceptionally organized and attentive to detail, will possess excellent communication skills, and will enthusiastically tackle both small and large projects. The candidate will be comfortable working both independently and in collaboration with other members of the gallery's staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position and comfort working across household and business settings.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist gallery owner as needed with personal and administrative matters, including household management, ongoing construction projects, and other day-to-day tasks as needed
- Manage all scheduling, correspondence, and travel for gallery owner
- Liaise with external vendors and gallery staff to ensure smooth operations at the gallery and personal residence
- Support event planning and management of both personal and professional projects
- Act as the first point of contact for all personal matters
- Field inquiries from clients, press, and the public with knowledge and discretion
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in art history, administration, or a related field
- Previous experience as a personal or executive assistant in the arts preferred
- Manages time efficiently and is confident working on multiple projects at once
- Articulate and confident, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Highly self-motivated, organized, responsible, and has a high level of attention to detail
- Works well in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working with small children and animals, with previous childcare experience an added bonus
- Valid driver’s license and able to drive in New York City
Status:
- Full-time, permanent, in-person

Hours:
Tuesday–Saturday, 10am–6pm. Flexibility required for additional hours based on the needs of the principal and gallery, including openings, fairs, and other events.
