This compensation range for this position is $55,500-$60,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined by several factors including but not limited to the individual's experience, skills and qualifications.

Description
Karma Gallery is seeking a full-time Sales Assistant for immediate hire to support our New York based Sales Director. This Tuesday through Saturday position will also contribute to the overall running of our NY locations and will work across multiple departments. Our ideal candidate is a creative and quick problem solver who thrives in a fast and collaborative environment, and has enthusiasm for contemporary art and our artist roster.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide full-cycle sales support including creating and sending offers, invoices, and shipping estimates, keeping database up to date and ensuring sales information is accurate.
- Assist with client outreach, send out fact sheets and previews.
- Coordinate and schedule viewings, updating fact sheets and the calendar and communicating viewings to sales team and art handlers.
- Provide walkthroughs to clients when needed on behalf of the Director.
- Track auction dates and results, assist with sales strategies and support the Director’s research relating to artists, collectors, and institutions.
- Coordinate exhibition and loan logistics, communicating and liaising with appropriate departments.
- Track exhibition and artist schedules, updating appropriate calendars.
- Research, write, and edit proposals for sales and potential exhibitions, working closely with Karma’s publishing team and writer when necessary.
- Support Director by managing inbox communication, calendar, and appointments, including completing expense reports and booking travel accommodations.
- Provide comprehensive gallery and administrative assistance, including opening and closing the gallery as scheduled, maintaining tidy workspaces, and managing supply orders and inventory.
- Welcome visitors and clients, answer incoming calls, and address inquiries from visitors regarding the gallery, our current exhibitions, and represented artists.
- Work with Sales Assistants to support gallery events, public programming, and openings. Responsibilities include event organization, venue booking and invitation distribution.
You’re a great fit if you have:
- 2+ years of experience in a similar role, at a contemporary gallery, auction house or art advisory.
- BA and/or MA in Art History, Arts Administration or related field.
- Thorough knowledge of Post-War, Contemporary art, and art market.
- Interest in sales, artist management or gallery operations.
- Ability to prioritize projects, multitask, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative team player who can also operate independently.
- Comfort in communicating with a wide range of individuals in a public setting.
- Outstanding verbal and communication skills.
- Fluency with Google suite, InDesign and Photoshop programs.
- Enthusiasm for the arts, and familiarity with our gallery's artists and program.
- Flexibility to work outside regular hours for events, openings, and projects.
