ISCP is now accepting applications for our Fall 2025 Internship.


The International Studio & Curatorial Program’s internship program offers an opportunity for those passionate about the arts and culture field in New York City, presented through the lens of a leading residency-based non-profit organization. ISCP interns engage in all aspects of the day-to-day operations and gain invaluable experience as they learn about arts administration within a studio filled building while being introduced to a vast network of international art professionals.


ISCP internships can provide a foundation in a variety of skills, and offer experience and contacts for future careers in the following professions: curator, artist, and arts administrator. Interns are invited to be a part of ISCP’s community by attending field trips, staff meetings and public events. Administrative internships are focused on programs (residencies or public programs), development, facilities, operations, executive or communications.

Applicants may apply to a maximum of three departments.


Duration: All internships require a minimum commitment of 16 hours (2 days) per week both for a minimum of three months. ISCP regular office hours are Monday-Friday, 10am–6pm.


Qualifications: Hold U.S. citizenship, have permanent or temporary residency status, or a current student visa that allows applicants to be paid in the U.S. You must be able to accept a 1099. Please note: candidates must be of junior-year college level or above to be considered. Applicants must possess a strong understanding of English, both written and spoken.


INTERNSHIP FOCUSES:

•Executive Intern: Interns focus on assisting the Executive Director with a wide variety of tasks, learning about nonporofit institutional management. Tasks include research, editing, correspondence, project development, neighborhood outreach, and scheduling. Individuals will work closely with the Executive Director of ISCP and provide support in various aspects of the organization’s operations, board meetings, and donor stewardship.


•Communications: Individuals interested in marketing, social media management and photography will excel in this internship. The intern works closely with the Communications Associate to assist in the development and execution of ISCP’s marketing and communications strategy. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with social media management and content creation, photographing artists, curators and public programs, creating promotional assets for ISCP’s programming, conducting press research for current and upcoming exhibitions, and maintaining the administration of the communications department. Photography experience is preferred but not required. Tuesdays afternoon availability is required.


•Fundraising – grants and campaigns: Fundraising is a skill that is useful for anyone interested in a future in arts administration and philanthropy in general. The intern builds research skills, assists in the development of proposals and reports to foundations and government funders. The intern also helps prepare materials and data in preparation for cultivation and prospecting. Strong writing and research skills are required. Experience with development-related duties is preferred.


•Operations: Individuals with an interest in arts administration will excel in this position. The intern will work closely with the Deputy Director to streamline all of the organization’s operations, gaining valuable insight into the inner workings of a New York City-based arts non-profit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with financial projects and ISCP’s financial audit, facilitating communications with artists and curators in residency, sponsors, and donors, assisting with facility management coordination, maintaining ISCP’s donor database, and implementing new IT systems.


•Programs-residencies: Responsibilities include answering inquiries from prospective residents, registering applications, researching open call opportunities for alumni, and providing direct support for current residents on field trips, trips to Materials for the Arts and resident events. Tuesday or Thursday availability is required. Administrative skills in Microsoft office or Google sheets and docs is preferred. Interns will participate in basic program administration.


•Programs and Exhibitions: The focus of this internship is on research for public talks, exhibitions and programs for ISCP residents. Excellent research skills and a strong interest in art history or curating is required.

•Facilities: Applicants interested in art installation, fabrication, and art handling may consider this role. The facilities intern will learn about the physical upkeep of galleries and studio spaces, framing, packing, and shipping art; as well as assisting curators and artists in putting their exhibition plans into action. This can be a physically demanding job. Familiarity with basic hand tools like drills and saws is a plus.


•Benefit Auction Intern: ISCP is accepting internship applications for a flexible five month internship helping with all aspects of ISCP’s upcoming annual fall benefit auction. The intern will play a vital role in the planning and implementation of the event to raise funds for ISCP residencies, public programs and general operating support. They will gain hands-on experience with ISCP’s largest fundraising initiative of the year. Tasks include artwork data collection and organizing, copy editing, support with in-person event planning, and research. For this position, interns will be asked to travel by subway to all five boroughs to pick up artworks, and must be able to comfortably carry a maximum of 30 lbs. This position goes from November 2025–April 2026.
