Wexler Gallery seeks a motivated individual with a strong work ethic to join our team as the Gallery Sales Assistant. Poised and professional, highly organized and detail-oriented, this position is the primary point of contact for visitors to the gallery and the right-hand assistant to our sales staff. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal instincts and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment are critical. Rigorous attention to detail and proactive problem-solving skills will distinguish the strongest candidates.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat and have excellent digital photography skills. Experience with Art Base or other FileMaker database systems is preferred.
Business hours are Monday – Friday, 10:00am – 6:00pm and other hours as needed.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Facilitating timely opening and closing of the gallery, ensuring the gallery is fully resourced and presentable at the start and end of each day.
• Working with Sales team in the creation of sales materials, including the layout and design of proposals, PDFs, fact sheets, and offers, often with a quick turnaround, sometimes after normal business hours.
• Supporting Sales team with assigned projects, including renderings and mock-ups.
• Assisting the Sales team and Gallery owners with general gallery inquiries, correspondence, scheduling, offers, presentations, organizing mailings and materials for outreach efforts to various collector and curator groups.
• Working closely with the Sales team on post-sales follow-up
• Leading the maintenance and organization of digital materials (documents and images) used across exhibitions, art fairs, sales presentations, and the gallery archive.
• Maintaining gallery inventory on 1stdibs and other online sales platforms
• Assisting with planning and management of openings, exhibitions and special events
Required qualifications:
Positive, “get it done” attitude
Bachelor’s degree
Prior gallery or administrative experience
Experience with Artlogic, Artbase or similar database
Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Photoshop, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat
