Full-Time | Reports to Partners

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Gallery Director to join our team. This role is focused on driving sales, developing strategic relationships, and representing the gallery at the highest levels. The Director will work closely with the Partners, gallery team, and represented artists and estates.

This position is centered on the sales of artwork in the six-figure range and offers access to all aspects of our program.

Key Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed annual sales goals
• Present and place artwork at gallery exhibitions and major international art fairs
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with collectors, museums, advisors, and institutions
• Represent the gallery at exhibition openings, museum events, and special programming
• Serve as a liaison for select artists and estates
• Participate in travel for client meetings, fairs, and other gallery business

Qualifications

• Proven track record of sales to museums, foundations, private collectors, and advisors
• Experience with both primary and secondary market sales
• Deep knowledge of modern and contemporary art
• Strong network within the global art community
• Strategic thinker with a self-directed, goal-oriented work ethic
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• High level of professionalism and discretion
• Fluency in additional languages is a plus

Hours

Tuesday - Saturday work week (Monday - Friday during July and August)

Some evenings required around gallery openings and events.

About the Gallery

Established in 2013 in Chelsea, RYAN LEE Gallery is expanding and growing our gallery team. We are home to a dynamic roster of international artists and estates working in a diverse array of media. The gallery has a strong interest and history in artists and estates across different generations whose art explores social and cultural issues of different generations.

The gallery works with collectors, leading museums and scholars to further promote and expand the visibility for its artists and estates through gallery and museum exhibitions, biennials and art fairs.
