Description

Bruce Silverstein Gallery is seeking a friendly, organized, and dedicated, newly minted or seasoned professional to join our team as a full-time Associate Registrar or Registrar. This key position offers the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic and passionate group of individuals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. As an integral member of our small, dedicated team, you will be responsible for maintaining the gallery’s inventory, overseeing shipments, and supporting the gallery’s exhibitions and operations.


About the Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate should appreciate contemporary and modern art, particularly photography. A proactive, detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced setting will excel in this role. Strong organizational skills, problem-solving ability, and the capacity to adapt to a variety of tasks will be essential. In addition, excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as creative and logical thinking, are critical. A proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and a keen interest in design are highly valued, along with any other skills that may contribute to the success of the gallery’s team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain the gallery’s inventory database
  • Initiate and coordinate all shipments, including both domestic and international art fairs
  • Oversee gallery installations, including the condition reporting and conservation of artworks
  • Assist with framing and ensure proper handling of artworks
  • Coordinate loans to museums and galleries
  • Work closely with a diverse roster of artists, supporting their needs and fostering strong relationships


In this role, you will be an essential part of the gallery's operations, helping to support its continued growth and success. As a valued team member, you will have the opportunity to grow with the gallery and contribute directly to its evolution.


Qualifications:

  • A strong passion for contemporary art, particularly photography
  • Experience in a fine art gallery, museum, or similar institution, with expertise in inventory management systems
  • A BA, MA, or MFA in art history, studio art, museum studies, library information studies, or any related field.
  • Experience with domestic and international shipping, packing, crating, and handling artworks (preferably with knowledge of museum standards) would be beneficial for the Registrarial position.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a professional and confident demeanor
  • A highly organized, detail-oriented approach to work; punctual and reliable
  • Able to thrive as a productive team member in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Proficiency in Mac OS, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
