Seasoned Manhattan gallery specializing in ultra-contemporary art seeks an Associate Sales Director for our team.
The goal of this position is to expand our sales reach, update our collector base, and assist with gallery promotion. Additionally, liaising with gallery artists, conducting studio visits with clients, and setting up appointments will be required.
Qualifications:
-3-5 years sales experience in a NYC based gallery
-Extensive knowledge of modern and contemporary art history, and direct experience with the New York gallery scene
-An active and current list of viable clients
-Ability to work well with others as well as independently
-Experience with and/or ability to learn GalleryManager program
-Experience preparing standard artist/gallery and gallery/gallery consignments
-Flexibility to conduct appointments at short notice in several locations
-Attendance at a variety of art world events, including museum and gallery openings, collector open houses, and attendance at art fairs, etc.
-Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
-Self-starter with strong initiative to deliver
-Problem-solving skills
-Gallery management, interaction with the public, and strong relationship skills
-Proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office and Mac OSX; must be tech-savvy
21 hours a week, $30/hr plus commission. Flexible hours typically Tue-Sat 10:30-6:30.
