Yossi Milo Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Chelsea working with all media, and established as a premier photography gallery, seeks an experienced, detail-oriented Registrar with exceptional organizational skills, experience with domestic and international shipping, and a professional, friendly manner.
Responsibilities:
The Registrar is responsible for many key aspects of the gallery’s operation. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Create object records and maintain the gallery's art database using Artlogic
- Maintain physical and digital inventory for works at the gallery and storage spaces
- Coordinate all aspects of artwork shipping for post-sales, art fairs, consignments and loans, including domestic and international transportation, customs, and insurance
- Work closely with the Directors to manage post-sale shipping, framing, and production orders
- Create and maintain detailed records for shipping, receiving, loans and consignments
- Create and execute agreements for loans and consignments
- Execute detailed condition reports with the Assistant Registrar
- Maintain a network of domestic and international shipping partners.
- Develop budgets for art fairs and exhibitions with the Directors
Required Qualifications:
- BA in Art History or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registrar in a gallery or auction house is required
- Experience with database software; experience with Artlogic highly preferred
- High-level proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills are essential
- Knowledge of international customs and tax procedures a plus.
- Knowledge of sales tax compliance.
- Experience with Quickbooks is a plus.
The candidate must be capable of prioritizing and executing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and must have the ability to work collaboratively as part of the gallery team.
This is a full-time position. The gallery’s hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 6pm. Schedule flexibility around art fairs, openings and events will be required.
