Teaching Artists are compensated at a rate of $150 per workshop session. In addition, a $300 preparation stipend is provided for the full workshop series to support planning, materials development, and coordination with NARS staff.

The New York Art Residency & Studios (NARS) Foundation is a non-profit arts organization committed to supporting artists and curators on an international level as well as engaging the local community in Brooklyn and the Greater New York area. NARS provides an array of professional creative development opportunities for emerging artists through short-term residency programs, affordable long-term studio spaces, progressive exhibition programs, and engaging public programs that foster global understanding and dynamic cross-cultural dialogue. These services operate in conjunction with our education and community outreach initiatives to promote greater accessibility to contemporary art for the underserved local community in Southwest Brooklyn.
About the Program:
The Saturday Free Family Workshop invites families with children ages 4–8 to participate in engaging, hands-on art-making experiences centered around contemporary art and diverse cultural expressions. These workshops create a welcoming space for families to explore creativity together, fostering curiosity, confidence, and meaningful dialogue through the arts.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a Teaching Artist to lead one Saturday workshop per month. The ideal candidate will be an experienced artist-educator with a passion for working with young children and their families in a community-centered environment. This individual will design and facilitate interactive, culturally inclusive art workshops that encourage exploration, expression, and shared learning.
