Description

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocausts seeks a proven grant writer to secure five- and six-figure support from foundations, government agencies, and corporations. The Associate Director of Institutional Giving will write and manage proposals, identify new funders, and support donor engagement. This position ensures funding for a range of projects, including exhibitions, public programs, education programs, capital projects, and general operations.

 

Responsibilities:

·      Write and submit high-quality, effective grant proposals, LOIs, grant budgets, and reports for foundation, government, and corporate funders

·      Manage a portfolio of institutional donors and prospects, ensuring effective cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies, including arranging tours, correspondence, and outreach schedule

·      Assist the Chief Development Officer in developing institutional fundraising strategy to meet department revenue goals

·      Manage grants from proposal submission through award, reporting, and reimbursement

·      Meet all government compliance requirements for the Museum, including DCLA CIG requirements and updating web portals such as SAM and SFS systems

·      Research potential funders and track donor engagement in Altru, the Museum’s CRM

·      Work in tandem with departments throughout the Museum to ensure successful crediting and execution of related contractual requirements

·      Oversee the day-to-day administration of the Museum’s corporate membership program, including website updates, creation of promotional materials, and organizing Museum tours

·      Develop and maintain a deep knowledge of the Museum and its programs to support grant writing and crafting of talking points and general development materials

·      Represent the Museum and interact with all levels of funders, grant officers, and government offices, as well as staff occasional Museum fundraising events, entailing some evening and weekend hours

·      Lead and mentor department assistants.

 

Requirements:

·      At least four years of grant writing experience with a track record of securing five- and six-figure grants, preferably for educational, cultural, Jewish or historical organizations

·      Strong understanding of and relationships with foundation, government and corporate funders in the Jewish, cultural and educational fields;

·      Exceptional written and oral communication skills, reflecting clear, critical and creative thinking;

·      Working knowledge of the Cultural Institutions Group (CIG) requirements and procedures;

·      Excellent project management, grants management, and budget management skills

·      Ability to prioritize tasks and manage a calendar of grant deadlines

·      Demonstrated willingness to manage and work effectively as part of a team and with all levels of donors as well as exercise excellent judgment and tact;

  • Proficiency in Altru (or other CRM) and research tools such as Foundation Directory preferred
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings as necessary
  • Bachelor’s degree required

 

Position Details:

·      Reports to the Chief Development Officer

·      Salary $90,000-$105,000 with benefits

·      Full-Time, 40 hours a week with hybrid schedule available after 90 days
