Gallery Intern

Leila Heller Gallery seeks a highly motivated, detail-driven college or graduate-level intern to join our team for the Fall/Winter season. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at an internationally recognized gallery, working closely with our Assistant Director and the wider team.

We are looking for a proactive candidate with practical skills in social media management, digital archiving, art handling, and administrative organization. The ideal intern is not only passionate about contemporary art but also confident with both technical and logistical tasks, able to work independently, and eager to contribute to our fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support exhibition preparation, including art handling, installation, and documentation.
• Organize and maintain digital and physical archives, inventory, and storage.
• Assist in creating presentations, documents, and client-facing materials.
• Draft and schedule engaging social media content.
• Conduct artist and auction research.
• Help coordinate and execute gallery events from planning to post-event follow-up.
• Maintain and update databases, records, and gallery resources.

Ideal Candidate

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Technological proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Google Workspace.
• Social media content creation experience.
• Ability to assist with art handling, installation, and packing/shipping procedures.
• Comfort working with inventory databases.
• Previous experience in galleries, museums, archives, art studios or related fields is a plus.

Gallery hours are Monday–Saturday, 10:00 am–6:00 pm, with additional hours occasionally required for exhibition openings and special events. Interns are expected to commit to a minimum of three days per week to ensure a well-rounded and productive experience.
