Experienced Frame Fitter for High End Frame Company

Downing Frames is a contemporary art framing studio specializing in the fabrication of handmade, museum-quality frames in NYC. We are looking to add a full-time experienced frame fitter who is a hardworking, detail-oriented team player. The ideal candidate works efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The applicant that we hire will have at least 2-3 years of framing experience and knowledge of archival hinging materials and techniques. You must be available for a Monday through Friday full-time job.

Basic daily responsibilities include:

Fitting high-end art into custom frames

High level art handling

Cutting Museum Glass

Cutting spacers / fillets

Installing frame glazing and fillets

Stretching canvases

Fitting acrylic boxes

Qualifications:

2+ years of on-the-job experience fitting high-end artwork

Ability to read and understand frame designs

Experience handling and packing art

Confident with hand-held power tools such as drills

Preference to experience with framing for extremely valuable art for high-end clients
