This is a full-time, non-exempt, permanent position with a salary of $60,000 to $65,000,
depending on experience. The organization offers generous holiday and time-off benefits to all

POSITION: COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR
Creative Time seeks a full-time Communications Coordinator to join the External Affairs Department. The Coordinator is an integral member of the Creative Time team, reports to the Deputy Director, and works collaboratively across departments.
The individual is responsible for coordinating all external communications and marketing activities, and will collaborate with the Deputy Director, freelance graphic designers, video fellow, digital marketing strategist, and external PR team on communications, media, and marketing strategies for the organization—from content ideation and creation, to implementation and reporting.
This includes, but is not limited to, copywriting and editing for the institution, as well as management of Creative Time’s website and social media outlets in collaboration with external contractors. Exceptional project management as well as written and interpersonal communications skills are required.
Responsibilities:
Administration
● Helps create and maintain the organization’s communications calendar
● Maintains a keen awareness of the organization’s editorial guidelines to help ensure the accuracy and usability of our institutional voice
● Maintains timelines and deliverables to help facilitate projects with the external press team
● Coordinates timely payments with all vendors and our internal financial controls
● Maintains the organization’s web store and sends out shipments as quickly as possible
● Tracks all costs related to the department and assists the Executive Assistant with
monthly credit card reconciliation
● Communicates with photographers and videographers to secure permits, media rights,
and/or necessary equipment; including the development of specific shotlists and/or face
sheets according for all projects and event
● Works with the librarians maintaining our external archives as well as keeping our internal records well-maintained and accessible
● Works with the Executive Assistant to recruit, manage, and mentor the department interns
● Screens all incoming press and image requests and inquiries—passing them along to
appropriate parties when necessary
● Lead efforts to keep all archival and working communications documents and assets
organized and accessible; remembering to archive items as projects and initiatives are
closed out
Marketing/Communications
● Facilitates coordination between all departments to streamline the creation and delivery of key
messaging that supports community engagement and fundraising development strategies
● Provide copywriting and editing support for all external-facing print and digital content, including project signage, web text, promotional e-blasts, updates to the Board of Trustees, and social media content.
Digital
● Contributes to social media content planning and production, workshopping ideas with
Digital Marketing Strategist, coordinating production of assets, and modifying longer form content for sharing on social
● Manages the social media calendar, including scheduling and posting content, monitoring
accounts during business hours (monitoring outside of work hours may be required for
sensitive projects), and responding to questions and comments as necessary
● Acts as the organization’s web administrator, regularly updating the website with content directed by the Deputy Director
● Research and recommend new digital tools,strategies, and practices to enhance communication efforts and continuously improve the organization's presence.
● Analyze and report regularly on site metrics and engagement across platforms
● Maintain the email list’s growth and management with meticulous attention to detail and in compliance with data privacy laws whilst working with the Development team to reinforce the accuracy of records in the database
Requirements: The organization requires a coordinator who is extremely organized, detail-focused, and maintains the courage, persistence, and cross-cultural competence required to assist in documenting and communicating the story of social justice-driven public art work. This is an administrative support role that also provides significant opportunities for ideation, creative expression, and experimentation across marketing, web design, social media, and visual and textual storytelling. The position requires:
● This position works Tuesday through Thursday at the Creative Time office in downtown
Manhattan; Mondays and Fridays are optional work-from-home
● Two to three years of communications, administration, or marketing experience in an arts, other creative or nonprofit organization, preferably
● Strong computer skills, including HTML knowledge and comfort with Wordpress, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Analytics, Google Suite, and various social media and e-commerce platforms
● Familiarity with social media platforms, awareness of best practices and trends, and a
desire to innovate within these formats
● Must have a strong interest in contemporary art, popular culture, social justice issues, and community engagement and outreach
● Capable of maintaining poise and organization whilst juggling tasks across multiple
initiatives, simultaneously
● Attention to detail and a careful, confident, and precise working style
