Studio Technician

POSITION SUMMARY 

Oversee day-to-day studio operations, set up for classes and studio renters. Clean and maintain all areas of the studio. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Open and close studio
• General oversight of hotshop and neon/flameworking studio
• Repair and maintain tools and equipment as needed 
• Ensure all studio equipment is ready for renters and class when they arrive
• Prior to each class, communicate with instructors about individual class needs, welcome students, and be available to instructors during classes
• Sweep and clean studio, clean and mop cold shop, keep all equipment in working order
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized studio
• Check in with studio renters before they start as well as throughout the day
• Must be highly organized with regard to daily studio schedule
• Charge glass furnace 

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

B.F.A. with glass experience preferred. The ideal candidate will have a knowledge of studio glass processes. A general knowledge of studio equipment and its operation both gas and electric powered. An understanding of proper annealing procedures. An ability to multitask. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be a team player able to work independently as well as in a group. Must be innovative, resourceful, patient.  Must be able to stand, bend, and routinely lift studio materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

Ability to repair studio equipment; including electrical, gas pipe and controller repairs helpful but not required .
