Description
Overview
Blue Green Works seeks a Design Coordinator, who will primarily support ongoing projects with a key commercial partner. The role encompasses both project management (overseeing implementation of fixtures across multiple large-scale commercial installs) and lighting design (supporting and supplementing our Lead Industrial Designer).
Founded in 2020, Blue Green Works is a Manhattan-based lighting and design studio. We’re a small, tightly-knit team with a collaborative working style. This is an in-person role, generally working M-F from the BGW studio in Chinatown. Some in-person site visits will also be required.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, inquisitive, and excited to master the multifaceted nature of this role. Flexibility and the ability to shift gears quickly will be essential.
Core responsibilities include:
- Liaising with our commercial partners to keep the BGW team up to date on shifting project needs.
- Structuring and tracking multiple project timelines and delivery dates.
- Working closely with the production team to ensure on-time delivery of large orders.
- Drafting, updating, and maintaining lighting designs, with guidance from our Lead Industrial Designer and Creative Director.
- Creating tear sheets, installation instructions, and other reference materials.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or industrial design (or equivalent experience).
- Excellent organizational skills/methods and keen attention to detail.
- A collaborative attitude and a desire to learn.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and annotating architectural/construction drawings, lighting plans, etc.
- SolidWorks and Adobe CS proficiency, AutoCad familiarity.
- Experience in drafting production drawings.
- Familiarity with G-Suite (Drive, Sheets, etc) is a must. Fluency with other organizational tools (i.e. Monday, Katana, etc) is also great but not required.
- Comfortable conveying important information IRL (i.e. during site visits).
- Ability to assist in assembly of prototypes, dry fitting, QC, etc is a plus.
- Bonus if you have experience working in boutique lighting design, construction management, manufacturing, shipping, or inventory control.
