About Bakehouse Art Complex
Bakehouse Art Complex envisions a world that supports and values artists and recognizes their power to shape, reflect, and transform society. Located on a 2.3-acre campus in the Wynwood Norte neighborhood of Miami, Bakehouse is a nonprofit committed to creating space, community, and opportunity for artists.
Founded in 1986 in a historic Art Deco-era industrial bakery, Bakehouse has provided affordable studios, shared facilities, and a vibrant, supportive community for artists to experiment, grow professionally, and engage the public. Today, we host approximately 70 artists in 60 studios, alongside shared galleries, a print shop, photo lab, ceramics studio, and woodworking and metal shops, also serving 50+ additional artists.
Now entering a transformative new chapter, Bakehouse is advancing a bold vision to redevelop its campus into a next-generation cultural hub—one that includes new affordable housing for artists, expanded state-of-the-art art-making spaces, and inclusive community amenities.
