About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Collections and Projects Manager to oversee Dieu Donné’s collections (including Dieu Donné’s permanent archive, artist’s archives, saleable inventory, and ephemera), on-site exhibitions, and the administration of our Workspace Residency program.
The Collections and Projects Manager will report to the Director of Operations and Programs.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 9:30 am - 3:00 pm (27.5 hours per week)
Responsibilities and Duties
Collection Management
The Manager coordinates the care, including housing/storage, cataloging and photographing, of works on paper in Dieu Donné’s collection, including Richard M. Polsky’s works on paper. The Manager also assists with the daily operations of the collection. Responsibilities include:
- Pull works for artists and classes
- Coordinate with the studio to retrieve, photograph and catalogue all new works made at Dieu Donné
- Assess, catalogue, and photograph all Dieu Donné’s past works and Richard M. Polsky’s works
- Present a digital catalog of Richard M. Polsky works by December 2025
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing loans
- Pack and shipp artworks as needed
- Coordinate inclusion of artwork in DD Benefits as well as other Benefit opportunities
for the organization
On-site Exhibitions
Oversee and implement the rotating exhibitions program in the Dieu Donné hallway gallery. Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate with artists on selection of works for exhibition, delivery/pickup, installation requirements, images + captions, opening details, etc.
- Write exhibition PR, create exhibition checklist, coordinate with the Development and Communication Manager for related marketing activities
- Oversee artwork installation and deinstallation
- Coordinate opening celebration date/needs with artists + staff
- Annual exhibitions Include: Workspace Residents, West Bay View Fellow, Printmaking Fellow. Other exhibitions that may occur more sporadically such as the Intern Exhibition and selected Exhibition Projects. Additional exhibitions from the collection as time allows.
Workspace Residency Program
Manage the application process, jurying, and artwork produced.
- Manage application process on Slideroom
- Oversee jurying process, including selection of jurors, coordination of jury meeting, and communicating results to studio and to all applicants
- Ensure cataloguing and photographing of all WS artists’ works
- Secure donations from artists according to contracts
Other Tasks
- invoicing and payment tracking
- Post-sales support
- Assist the Museum Relations program as needed
- Additional tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in archives and collections management
- Bachelor’s Degree recommended but not required
- Experience with photographing artworks or enthusiasm to learn how to photograph artworks
- Strong research, writing, editing, and communication skills
- Experience with art handling and packing, artwork documentation, and exhibition installation preferred.
- Skills in a Mac-based environment required, including: Google Suite (Gmail,
Calendar, Sheets) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Intermediate knowledge of database and sales platforms such as Gallery Manager, Artlogic or similar preferred.
- Detailed-oriented. Organized. Careful. Self-directed. Logical.
- Highly motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team, and comfortable within a casual but professional office and studio environment.
