Introduction
Hoffman Creative is an identity design studio based in New York City. We primarily serve clients in the interiors, architecture, and design world. Our anthropological approach focuses on working closely with clients to tell compelling visual stories through branding, photography, video, web, and other media. We're seeking a Mid-Weight Designer to join our full-time team here in our NYC studio.
About Us
Based in Midtown, NYC, our studio is a highly social, collaborative space that emphasizes strong client relationships. A Mid-Weight Designer is expected to actively contribute to the studio’s holistic creative process—which includes in-depth client research, strategy, identity design, art direction, web design, and brand applications. We are looking for a team member who is eager to engage in creative discussions, enjoys interfacing with clients, and can work fluidly as a member of the Hoffman Team, both leading and supporting greater client projects.
Job Description
As a Mid-Weight Designer, you will be a vital member of Hoffman’s creative team, focused on developing beautiful, powerful, and lasting identity work Hoffman Creative is known for.
At Hoffman, you will manage multiple projects at once, often across different media, consistently designing and delivering high-end brand narratives and identity systems. Hoffman’s projects are long-term and multi-faceted, with team members working in parallel and in collaboration to achieve a holistic brand vision, so successful applicants will have stellar teamwork skills. Knowledge-sharing should be an natural part of your process. You will be called upon to contribute during the ideation phase, researching and sharing concepts and ideas with the team that inspire and move the work forward.
Successful applicants will have impeccable communication and storytelling skills, a positive attitude, and find fulfillment in a team environment. We greatly value our in-studio time together. They must intuitively work well with others, possess the ability to multi-task, and have an enthusiasm to work on an assignment no matter how great or small. Our studio is a place of communal learning — additional expertise in fields of photography/video, illustration, typography, animation, copywriting, and packaging are actively encouraged.
Successful Applicant Profile
Our ideal team member would have:
— A rich portfolio demonstrative of their experience with a strong emphasis in logo design and brand strategy, and beautiful examples of print/editorial design, UX/UI, and photographic and/ or filmmaking projects.
— A creative career deeply rooted in identity design (including color palette and typography work), art direction for photo/video shoots, photo and materiality research, and print and digital application design.
— A collaborative spirit with a strong desire to work in-person, in-studio. A successful applicant has confidence in presenting ideas and collaborating with clients and internal teams. Experience mentoring and managing junior creatives is a strong plus.
— A lively network of freelance designers, production partners, and photographers/ videographers to leverage during projects.
— Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite (including animation & video editing) and Figma prototyping workflows.
— Experience overseeing both print and digital production and developing relationships with vendors and freelancers.
We are an in-studio team, with remote working on Fridays. Applicants should be dedicated to working alongside the team in-studio Mondays through Thursdays.
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, including those with non-traditional educational experiences. Candidates with 5+ years of post-bachelors (or equivalent) professional experience in a related design field, which includes exposure to both relevant client- and agency-side work experience, should apply by sending their resume and a brief message of interest to [email protected] with a subject line of "Mid-Weight Designer”. U.S.-based applicants only.
