Gallery Liaison and Sales Associate at Established Artist Studio

Job Description

High profile private artist studio located in Hell's Kitchen seeking responsible, and qualified candidates. The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude, strong follow-through, and the ability to handle deadlines and pressure with high levels of professionalism and efficiency.

Full-time position, hours 9:30AM-5:30PM Monday-Friday, full time in studio.

Must have experience in the following:

Filemaker Pro Database

1. Manage & search database

2. Design and edit database platforms and layouts

3. Export database searches

4. Periodic inventory reconciliation for artist inventory and gallery consignments

5. Record all new information about paintings in the Database

6.   Maintain an organized archive of digital image files on our shared server

Adobe Creative Cloud

1.   Edit PDFs

2.   Create PDFs

3. Experience in Photoshop

Sales and Marketing Experience

1. Outreach, responsiveness, and coordinating with galleries/dealers/clients with information about available inventory, paintings sold, collector info, etc.

2. Experience in managing accounts, organized & competent in art sales

3. Excellent writing skills

4. Keeping a detailed record of actions performed

5. Managing correspondences with multiple galleries, private collectors, and museums at once.

6. Creating sales orders

7. Assisting Managing Director in generating reports on gallery consignments, sales, etc.

Archivist Experience

1. Proficient in Microsoft Office, FileMaker Pro, Photoshop

2. Review and edit consignment agreements, and preparations for new galleries and dealers

3. Following up with contracts received, signed contracts, and filing appropriately

4. Working closely with the studio team to record all works leaving and returning to the studio

5. Supervising packing, generating inter-studio paperwork to manage all shipments

6. Coordinating returns at the expiry of the consignment period, logging returned works in Shipping Log

7. Sending tear-sheets, offers, and images to galleries, dealers, designers, collectors, and museums

8. Sending HQ images for publications and merchandise

9. Answering telephone and door (shared responsibility)

Additional Qualifications

• Ability to operate DSLR digital camera a plus.
• Established New York art scene rapport preferred.
• Pre-existing client base & art world connections are preferred.
• Painting, art history, or sales background preferred.
• Experienced in an artist studio with a fast paced environment preferred
