The annual salary for this position ranges from $150k to $200k+
An established Tribeca based contemporary art gallery in New York is looking for an accomplished, dynamic, and motivated senior sales director. Our ideal candidate has a strong history of managing primary artwork sales and of sourcing and selling secondary market works.
The senior sales director's primary responsibility is to devise and develop new sales strategies, and must have a proven ability to analyze current market intelligence and adapt sales plan accordingly.
Responsibilities include:
- Cultivating client relations and actively seeking new relationships with clients, curators, collectors, dealers, and art advisors in existing and new markets.
- Proactively generating new sales opportunities by sourcing new relationships and deepening existing ones.
- Planning, strategizing and driving sales for each gallery exhibition in collaboration and consultation with the relevant artist liaison/director.
- Collaborating with the team to forecast sales.
- Planning, strategizing and attending each of the domestic and international art fairs in which the gallery participates.
- Working with artist studios and estates to promote the placement of work in both private collections and institutions.
Requirements:
- Seven or more years in a sales role at a leading gallery or auction house, or as a dealer.
- Expertise in Contemporary Art.
- A professional record of developing and maintaining an active list of clients and sales.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel and Artlogic.
- Experience with negotiations.
- Strong ability to multitask.
- Team player, proactive, highly organized, and attentive to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
