Description

Templon is seeking a full-time Assistant to the Owner/Director at its space in Chelsea, New York City. The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills, a high level of professionalism, and a demonstrated interest in contemporary art and sales. This position supports the Owner/Director across all aspects of daily operations, including client communications, sales support, and artist and studio coordination. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual with an interest in the sales process who is comfortable handling a wide range of tasks and managing shifting priorities. The Executive Assistant plays a key role in maintaining internal systems and ensuring the smooth execution of gallery activities.

 

Hours:

Tuesday – Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm

Requires flexibility for additional hours based on the needs of the gallery, including openings, fairs, and other events.


Salary commensurate with experience

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist Owner/Director in corresponding with artist studios and facilitate logistics related to shipping, travel, and related contracts including consignments and loan agreements.
  • Send sales offers and invitations on behalf of Owner/Director and facilitate post-sale process. Create exhibition and fair previews, as well as sales/artist PDFs for clients.
  • Interact with prospective and existing clients and conduct viewings on director’s behalf.
  • Conduct research on prospective and existing clients to support targeted outreach and personalized communication.
  • Update client information and director’s offers, artwork movements, and other gallery activities as needed on internal databases.
  • Coordinate and lead all gallery events, including exhibition openings.
  • Assist in orchestrating gallery openings, special events, and meetings.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements including flights, reservations, and meetings, and maintain detailed itineraries.
  • Coordinate mailing out items on behalf of gallery, including catalogue mailings for collectors, curators, and press.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 1 year experience at an art gallery or similar institution
  • Professional fluency in French highly preferred
  • Proficiency with Adobe Suite preferred
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have a working visa for the US
