Position Overview:
The Banksy Museum is seeking an experienced and passionate Street Art Instructor with deep knowledge of spray painting and stencil techniques to lead engaging hands-on workshops for both adults and children. This is a unique opportunity to inspire the next generation of street artists while working at the epicenter of NYC’s underground art scene.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and lead interactive art classes focused on street art fundamentals, including spray paint handling, layering, stencil cutting, and creative composition.
- Adapt instruction for different age groups and experience levels—children (ages 7+), teens, and adults.
- Foster a fun, safe, and inclusive learning environment that encourages experimentation and self-expression.
- Teach participants about the cultural significance and history of street art, including the legacy of Banksy and other key figures.
- Maintain studio cleanliness and oversee safe use of all materials and equipment.
- Collaborate with the museum’s education team on programming schedules and special event workshops.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a working street artist or muralist, with a strong portfolio showcasing spray paint and stencil work.
- Prior teaching, mentoring, or workshop experience preferred.
- Ability to clearly communicate techniques and safety practices to beginners and children.
- Passion for urban art, community engagement, and arts education.
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and able to inspire creativity in others.
