The role is focused on the careful assembly and joining of fabric using a variety of machines. The work is detail-oriented and repetitive by nature, requiring consistency and focus over extended periods. - Operate and maintain various industrial sewing machines, including overlock, straight-stitch, and embroidery machines
- Sew long lengths of stretch fabric with precision and consistency
- Follow established sewing sequences and techniques as directed by the artist and studio manager
- Maintain an orderly and professional workspace
- Transition into working independently after an initial training period

- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Prior experience in garment construction, costume making, upholstery, or related fields preferred
- Familiarity with pattern making or graphic design is a plus
- Previous experience in an artist's studio is helpful, though not required
- Must be punctual, dependable, and capable of working independently after instruction
Additional Information:
- The studio is fully equipped with all necessary machines and materials
- The role involves no lifting or stretching of finished works — the assistant’s sole responsibility is sewing
- Scheduling is flexible within reason, provided work is completed in a timely and consistent manner
- A multi-step onboarding process will include an interview with the studio manager, a follow-up with the artist, and a brief trial period on site
- Candidates demonstrating strong performance may be offered a longer-term position following the trial
