Are you passionate about art and looking to gain valuable experience in both a dynamic studio and contemporary gallery setting? The Slip is excited to offer several internship opportunities that will allow you to develop your skills and grow under the mentorship of our experienced Director and team. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals for the following positions:
1. Gallery Management Intern
• Role Overview: As a Gallery Management Intern, you will support the daily operations of the art gallery. This role involves direct engagement with artists, clients, and collectors from around the world, ensuring smooth operations and a high level of customer service in our studio and gallery environments.
• Learning Opportunities: You will gain hands-on experience in managing the day-to-day functions of a fine art studio and gallery, overseeing events, and coordinating with artists and clients. This is an excellent opportunity to learn the intricacies of running successful art spaces.
2. Studio Artist Intern
• Role Overview: As a Studio Artist Intern, you will work closely with resident artists, assisting with art production, studio management, and organization. This role also involves engaging with visitors and clients, providing insights into the artistic process.
• Learning Opportunities: This hands-on role will immerse you in the creative process, offering valuable experience in studio practice, particularly in painting and drawing. You will also gain practical skills in studio management and organization, as well as how to present and discuss artwork with potential clients and collectors—a key skill in the art industry.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
• Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and Google Docs is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for art.
• Studio practice skills in painting and drawing, with hands-on experience in a studio setting.
• Excellent customer service and sales capabilities.
• Eager to learn and grow in a mentorship-style environment.
