Gallery seeks a highly detail-oriented, motivated responsible individual to be Registrar. This is an ideal position for an ambitious self-starter who has a passion for supporting artists in a gallery setting. This is a small gallery setting that will provide the right person with a multi-layered experience with room to grow.
Application Requirements
- B.A. in Art History
- At least one year of relevant full-time experience working in a gallery or an auction house is a plus; those holding long-term internships will also be considered.
- A demonstrable familiarity with and interest in contemporary art
- Proficiency with Mac Interface and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with an art database, preferably Artlogic
- Photography and graphic design skills a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Passion for supporting artists in a gallery setting
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain up to date inventory, consignments, loans and photo archives
- Coordinate fine art shipments
- Light art handling as required by shipment and exhibition schedule
- Assist in the creation of exhibition and art fair materials
- Maintain the gallery's office spaces, including filing paperwork and ordering necessary office supplies
- Keeping the gallery exhibition ready, this includes painting and spackling
- This is a front facing position that allows for direct interface with the public. The position requires a thorough knowledge of gallery artists and an ability to tactfully respond to all inquiries
- Develop, proof, and schedule all digital marketing materials, including mass emails and social media posts
The position is Tuesday - Saturday, 10am - 6pm (Summer hours are Monday - Friday) -- with occasional evening commitments. Begin immediately.
Salary commensurate with experience. PTO includes two weeks off in August, and between Christmas and the New Year.
