The Position
This is a fast-paced production position with primary responsibility for creating often complex proposals and presentations of the highest quality from concept to final execution in a variety of formats under client-driven deadlines. We are looking for a colleague who is responsible, cerebral, collaborative, precise, and with excellent communication skills. Your work will also include maintaining a list of opportunities, conducting research in many categories, coordinating ongoing business development communications and other tasks broadly in support of SHoP's BD and marketing efforts. All production relies on InDesign; everyday fluency is required. New business responses can take a wide variety of forms, from strictly regimented institutional documents to artful visual narratives. Day-to-day tasks can range from collaborative projects to self-directed maintenance and refinement of the systems and materials SHoP creates to support its work.
In addition to the suggested qualifications listed below, and regardless of previous experience, the ideal candidate should have deep familiarity with the language and culture of architecture and standard AEC industry business development processes. For this role we are seeking applicants based in the New York City area as your work will be conducted in SHoP’s office with the leadership group.
Primary Responsibilities
• Conduct research of opportunities, markets, typologies, events, conferences, partners, and clients. Then synthesize and document information for strategic decision-making.
• Lead the production, write, and be involved in the pursuit strategy of original and effective proposals, presentations, qualifications packages, and similar documents. Coordinate with SHoP's Senior Graphic Designer in implementing brand standards and layouts.
• Maintain up-to-date files of all commonly used proposal assets and information. Maintain and/or create systems to improve the efficiency of the proposal, presentation production process.
• Maintain up-to-date data/tracking for all opportunities and contacts utilizing the CRM
• Work with SHoP's Business Development Officer, Director of Partnerships, and Leadership in all BD-related tasks in the office
Professional Qualifications
• Three or more years’ experience in a similar or applicable role
• Familiarity with assembly and production across the variety of common proposal types
• Fluency with Adobe Creative Suite with expertise with InDesign layout, Open Asset and Google tools
• Demonstrably excellent visual literacy and writing/editing skills and communications
