Description
Night Gallery is seeking a highly organized and motivated Gallery Assistant to support operations at our Tribeca viewing room in New York. Working closely with the East Coast Senior Director and collaborating with our Los Angeles team, this position offers an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in gallery sales, artist relations, and gallery management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and enthusiastic about contemporary art.
This position is part-time, 3 days per week in our Tribeca viewing room with the possibility of growing to a full-time position.
Night Gallery is a leading contemporary art gallery based in Los Angeles, with a New York viewing room and a strong presence on the international art fair circuit. The gallery is known for its ambitious exhibition program and diverse roster of emerging, mid-career, and established artists.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day operation and presentation of the viewing room, including maintaining supplies and ensuring the space is visitor-ready
- Provide administrative support to the East Coast Senior Director, including calendar management, meeting notes, travel arrangements, itineraries, and expense reporting
- Coordinate with the Los Angeles team on meetings, travel logistics, artwork shipments, and artist-related information
- Assist with post-sale communications, invoicing and shipping logistics
- Track sales inquiries, visitor information, and client interactions within the gallery database
- Support sales initiatives by preparing client previews, offer materials, presentations, and artwork information
- Develop a strong understanding of the gallery's artist roster, exhibitions, and program
- Assist with the planning and execution of viewing room events, client dinners, and other special programs in NY
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Art History, Fine Arts, or a related field.
- 1–3 years of experience in a commercial gallery, museum, arts organization, or related environment
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to maintain accuracy and calm in a fast-paced environment
- Discretion with confidential information
- Experience with Artlogic or a comparable database preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Workspace
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Registrarial / shipping logistics experience a plus
