WELL-ESTABLISHED CHELSEA GALLERY SEEKING FINANCIAL CONTROLLER / BOOKKEEPER WITH GALLERY EXPERIENCE
2-3 days a week, hourly, freelance
Finance & HR
- Bookkeeping (A/R, A/P): bill payments, invoicing, payables on sales, and reconciling bank and credit card statements, cash flow, sales tax filing
- HR functions: generating employee paperwork, administering benefits, setting up payroll via ADP, tracking employee PTO, be accessible to the team as needed.
- Budgets and budget projections
- Liaise with insurance brokers for policy renewals, annual workers comp audit, annual disability report and reconciliation
- Conduct vendor research and communication as needed
- General administrative support as needed, eg research of gallery sales, amex questions etc
- Update Art database as needed
- Meet with Gallery President review gallery finances and provide reports and analyses as needed, get approvals for payments
- Meet with and prepare material for accountant, tax prep, reports, supply 1099 data
- Track inventory
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years bookkeeping/accounting experience in a gallery
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, and follow through
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Appreciation for working as part of a diverse, idealistic and engaged team
- Strong tech literacy and comfort working with an arts database; QBs and Excel proficient
