Editor

The Editor reports directly to the Editor in Chief and is a full member of Artforum’s senior editorial commissioning team, which collectively steers the editorial direction of the magazine across all its platforms.

The Editor is responsible for serving as primary editor for a portion of our columns and features every month, as well as top editor for select texts. Additionally, the Editor will be expected to contribute new texts (columns, features, reviews, or other content) on a regular basis.

The Editor is expected to be an exemplary editor and writer, with deep knowledge of art history and contemporary art. Finely-honed editorial instincts, a flair for diplomacy, clear communication skills, an appreciation for different writerly voices/modes, an obsession with organization, punctuality with deadlines, and an ability to multi-task are imperative.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Some formal training in art history; master’s degree preferred
• Six or more years of experience editing texts
• Some record of publications on contemporary art
• Proficiency with standard business software programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Zoom; if not familiar with publishing on WordPress, must be willing to learn
