Location: Fort Greene, Brooklyn, NY

Schedule: Temporary, 4 days/week through fall, with potential for long-term part-time or full-time

About the Role

Midden Projects is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fabrication Assistant to support our studio in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. We design and build artist-made furniture and custom interiors with a focus on material integrity, formal experimentation, and craft.

We are hiring 1–2 fabricators to assist with production for an upcoming exhibition and several furniture commissions this summer and fall. This position may evolve into a long-term part-time or full-time role for the right candidate.

This role is ideal for someone with substantial hands-on experience in woodworking, metalworking, or both. You will assist with a range of furniture and interior projects and be part of a small, fast-paced, and collaborative team.

Key Qualifications:

Woodworking

• Strong understanding of joinery and fabrication techniques
• Proficient with power tools, hand tools, and general woodshop equipment
• Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship

Metalworking

• Experience with TIG and MIG welding; experience with stainless steel and aluminum is a plus
• Skilled in metal prep and finishing (cutting, grinding, polishing, patinas, etc.)
• Comfortable working with precision and producing clean, high-quality finishes

Additional Qualifications

• Experience working in a fabrication, furniture, or architectural design studio
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks
• Strong communicator with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
• Flexible, resourceful, and excited to contribute to a growing creative studio
• Bonus (but not required): Experience with Rhino, SketchUp, or Adobe Creative Suite
