Job Title: Part-Time Studio Assistant

Location: Bakehouse Art Complex, Miami, FL

Compensation: $20/hour to start, with potential for growth

Hours: Up to 36 hours/week (flexible scheduling based on project needs)

Start Date: Summer 2025

Job Type: Independent Contractor

Lauren Shapiro Studio is a Miami-based ceramic art and fabrication studio working at the intersection of art, sustainability, and community engagement. The studio produces large-scale installations, sculptures, public art commissions, and collaborative projects.

We’re a values-driven studio that prioritizes respect, collaboration, precision, responsibility, and environmental awareness. This role is ideal for someone excited to contribute to meaningful, community-minded work.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with ceramic production: slab rolling, press-molding, slipcasting, glaze mixing, kiln loading/unloading
• Help create and reset plaster/silicone molds
• Maintain a clean, organized studio and manage materials/inventory
• Pack artwork for transport and support installations and logistics
• Assist with documentation, archiving, and occasional workshops or public programs

Qualifications

• Ceramics experience (academic or professional)
• Basic mold-making, slipcasting, and kiln knowledge
• Comfortable lifting 50 lbs and working outdoors
• Reliable transportation
• Detail-oriented, collaborative, communicative, and adaptable

Bonus if you have: woodworking or power tool experience, familiarity with 3D printing/digital tools (Rhino, Illustrator, CNC), or experience in public/community-based projects.
