Roundabout Theatre Company, the nation’s largest not-for-profit theatre, seeks a personable and organized individual to join the company’s Development Department as the Institutional Giving Assistant. The position reports to the Government Relations Manager and supports an Institutional Giving team of five colleagues (Development Director, Director of Government Relations, Senior Grant Writer, Government Relations Manager, and Special Events & Corporate Relations Manager). The Assistant takes responsibility for tasks supporting the cultivation and administration of grants, corporate sponsorships, and government contracts. A successful candidate will have a passion for project management, dependable data, and persuasive writing.
This is some of what the Institutional Giving Assistant will do:
- Manage the grant administration process for foundation, corporate, and government support, including supporting the research and cultivation of prospective funders
- Support the Government Relations Manager to collect and track program data, file organizational assets, and otherwise coordinate supplemental materials to ensure grantor guidelines are met
- Maintain constituent data and project deadlines for institutional funders within the organization’s database (Tessitura)
- Maintain organization profiles and access to institutional funder portals; support compliance with government contract and payment systems.
- Support the Institutional Giving team to develop presentation materials for general operating, artistic development, commissioning, education, capital, and other special project grants
- Support drafting of correspondence, proposals, reports, and other materials
- Assist Development and Institutional Giving teams to prepare for donor meetings, site visits, and other engagement opportunities
- Serve as Patron’s Desk customer service representative, alongside the Individual Giving Manager, Membership Coordinator, and Individual Giving Assistant, handling inquiries over phone and email related to subscription renewal processing, ticketing requests, donations, and benefit fulfillment for Chairman’s Circle and above donors, as well as institutional supporters
- Take part in site visits and other Development events as necessary
This is what the Institutional Giving Assistant should know:
- Experience in development, particularly with institutional fundraising, preferred.
- Must have advanced written and verbal communication (language skills required: English).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.
- Knowledge of Tessitura or related CRM database a plus.
- Besides the requisite technical skills, the right candidate will show excellent writing, editing, and organization skills, as well as keen attention to detail.
- Must be strategic, creative, an optimistic problem-solver, and able to work alongside different personalities.
- Must also be comfortable interacting directly with donors, both on the phone and in-person.
This is a full-time position with all standard Roundabout benefits. The starting salary is $42,000 annually plus any overtime for hours worked over 40 in a workweek
