Production Assistant

Contemporary Artist’s Studio, Brooklyn

Seeking a highly skilled part-time assistant to support the production manager of a busy artist’s studio, as well as work collaboratively with a small team. The ideal candidate will have previous studio and/or art handling experience.

Qualifications:

• Punctual
• Dependable
• Strong organizational skills and cleanliness
• Adept at problem-solving and multitasking
• Meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks and work independently
• Comfortable standing for long periods and working on scaffolding/ladders
• Can lift heavy objects (either alone or with assistance)
• Willingness to learn and follow studio systems and artist-specific techniques
• Completes tasks in an efficient and timely manner and is mindful of deadlines
• Discreet and professional, particularly with vendors and visitors to the studio
• Motivated and eager to assist as needed

Tasks Include:

• Mixing paints and preparing materials
• Stretching large canvases
• Assisting with precise, process-based projects
• General studio upkeep and workspace prep
• Handling, moving, and packing artworks 
• Supporting photo documentation

This is a part-time position (Tue, Wed & Thu from 9:30am to 5:30pm) and salary is commensurate with experience. After a 90 day trial period, the position is eligible for benefits including health insurance and paid time off.
