Production Assistant
Contemporary Artist’s Studio, Brooklyn
Seeking a highly skilled part-time assistant to support the production manager of a busy artist’s studio, as well as work collaboratively with a small team. The ideal candidate will have previous studio and/or art handling experience.
Qualifications:
- Punctual
- Dependable
- Strong organizational skills and cleanliness
- Adept at problem-solving and multitasking
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Ability to stay focused on repetitive tasks and work independently
- Comfortable standing for long periods and working on scaffolding/ladders
- Can lift heavy objects (either alone or with assistance)
- Willingness to learn and follow studio systems and artist-specific techniques
- Completes tasks in an efficient and timely manner and is mindful of deadlines
- Discreet and professional, particularly with vendors and visitors to the studio
- Motivated and eager to assist as needed
Tasks Include:
- Mixing paints and preparing materials
- Stretching large canvases
- Assisting with precise, process-based projects
- General studio upkeep and workspace prep
- Handling, moving, and packing artworks
- Supporting photo documentation
This is a part-time position (Tue, Wed & Thu from 9:30am to 5:30pm) and salary is commensurate with experience. After a 90 day trial period, the position is eligible for benefits including health insurance and paid time off.
