Gallery Associate

Contemporary Design Gallery in Chelsea is in search of position of a Gallery Associate.

This position is full-time, Tuesday through Saturday (Monday – Friday during the summer) and is available immediately. Salary commensurate with experience, including benefits.

We are looking for a candidate with interest and experience with art sales. The successful candidate will gain experience in gallery operations and be trained in gallery sales. With continued growth, the successful candidate will begin to take on a larger role in sales. We are looking for a candidate with at least 2-3 years of related experience.

Engagement with the Public/Sales and Gallery Interest:

• Answering phones, directing calls, taking messages, checking/changing voicemail, rotating new inquiries
• Greeting visitors and directly deliveries
• Supporting gallery during client meetings
• Maintaining the library at the front desk, selling books

Site Management: 

• Overseeing gallery and office maintenance
• Selling / donating / disposing of catalogues and equipment as needed
• Ensuring front desk is stocked for client needs
• Ensuring office and gallery supplies are in stock, competitive pricing and tracking expenses

Infrastructure Support and Management: 

• Website administration
• Artsy Administration
• Phone system administration
• IT administration
• Rotating sales inquiries to sales team
• Coordinating incoming and outgoing small shipments/mail for gallery staff members
• Support with expense processing

Exhibition Support:

• Updating shared gallery calendars with upcoming exhibitions and fairs
• Creating ads and eblasts
• Maintaining supply of pricelists, press releases and press books for the front desk
• Laying out vinyl/wall texts
• Adding gallery exhibitions to public listing platforms
• Attending openings and overlooking the general well-being/maintenance of the exhibitions
• Coordinating security and other contractors as needed
