Full- Time Lead Studio Assistant (Ceramics, Painting, and Paper)
A multidisciplinary art and design studio located in South Los Angeles is seeking a full-time proactive Lead Studio Assistant to join a collaborative team with the potential for long term growth at the studio. The studio’s work includes custom architectural lighting, Japanese paper finishes, and ceramic lighting products. This position works closely with the Studio Director and Lead Artist to produce, troubleshoot, and repair ceramic and paper based works.
Other Position Details:
Starting pay: $25.00/hr 90 day trial period, increase to $27.50/hr after trial
Studio hours: Monday–Thursday, 10am–6pm
4 days per week, in-person in South Los Angeles

Our Ideal Candidate Has:
3+ years of professional studio experience
Strong creative problem-solving and organizational skills
Comfort working with power tools, paint, paper, etc
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs
Patience with repetitive and detailed tasks
Excellent attention to detail and material care
Experience supporting a team
Ability to stand for extended periods
Familiarity with Japanese paper materials and ceramics (plus)
Basic lamp-wiring knowledge (plus)
Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Sculpture/Installation, Printmaking, Painting, or related fields (plus)
Lead Ceramics Assistant – Job Tasks
Assist in production all ceramic and light fixtures
Responsible for on-site and off-site repairs at a higher pay rate
Cleaning and organization of the studio
Creation and stocking of samples
Assisting Lead Artist on custom ceramics/paper projects
Quality control
Assisting with condition reports and finishing pieces for review
