Open Call: Art House by Civil Art

Art House is an emerging artist incubator program that provides mentorship, accessibility, and opportunities for recently graduated API emerging artists. By providing equitable opportunities, accessibility and visibility, Art House becomes a bridge for local API emerging artists in their adjustment year to the city. 2025-2026 cohorts will be guaranteed a group exhibition at Latitude Gallery in NYC in Q4 2025.

The Art House Open Call is open for submission from 6/11 - 7/7 and receiving applications from artists who meet the following eligibility: 

Applicants must have graduated/are graduating from an arts degree program within the past year (Class of 2024/2025), identify as Asian Pacific Islander (API), and maintain an active fine art practice with the intention of presenting at fine art galleries and institutions at a professional level. Due to the nature of in-person workshops and activities, the program is open to artists who are residing in or relocating to New York City, as well as those who have regular access to the five boroughs—including artists based in parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, and upstate New York. However, in the interest of accessibility and program effectiveness, Civil Art will take into account an applicant's proximity to New York City during the selection process.

Art House is built to provide equitable opportunities to API emerging artists and all submitted applications will be reviewed under the criteria of merit and the quality of artwork and statements provided, the potential impact Art House could have on your career trajectory, and the sincerity and professionalism in the application materials. For this inaugural cycle of Art House, Civil Art will be selecting up to 8 candidates. Results will be announced mid-July, and we deeply appreciate you taking the time to fill out our application. Candidates who are not accepted into the program will still be considered for future Civil Art opportunities.

Eligibility:

• Graduated/graduating from an arts degree program within the past year (class of 2024/2025)
• Identifies as Asian Pacific Islander (API)
• Maintains an active fine art practice with the intention of presenting at art galleries and or institutions at a professional level. 
• Living or planning to reside in New York/able to regularly commute to NYC from July 2025 - April 2026.

Timeline:

• Applications open Wednesday, June 11, 2025
• Applications close on Monday, July 7, 2025
• Application Review from Tuesday, July 7 - Thursday, July 10, 2025. 
• All applicants will be notified by Friday, July 11, 2025.
• Incubation period is from end of July 2025 - April 2026.
