The Patrick Leahy Burlington International Airport (Leahy BTV), in partnership with Burlington City Arts (BCA), is excited to announce the opening of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for artists and creative teams. This opportunity invites submissions for the design and fabrication of permanent architectural enhancements in one of three distinct spaces within the BTV NexT Project—the most ambitious terminal expansion in the airport’s history.
Selected creative teams will collaborate with the airport’s architects and construction contractor to deliver site-specific wall treatments that complement the design goals of the terminal and can be delivered in a condensed time frame. The spaces include a children’s play area, an open seating lounge, and a fireplace room—each with unique dimensions and thematic prompts that connect to Vermont’s identity, natural beauty, and Leahy BTV’s commitment to sustainability and innovation.
The total funding for architectural enhancements is $367,033. From the pool of applicants, ten finalists will be selected to advance to the proposal phase, each receiving a $1,000 honorarium to develop a detailed concept. Final selections will be made later in the year, with installation to occur in alignment with the overall construction timeline.
The RFQ opens on June 13, 2025, and qualifications must be submitted by 3:00 PM EDT on July 14, 2025. Finalists will be announced on July 25, 2025, with the proposal phase and interviews taking place in the fall.
