The Village of Ardsley invites visionary muralists to transform our community with vibrant public art. We seek designs celebrating themes of nature’s vitality (flourishing flowers, dynamic animals, lush plants) or cultural/historical elements of the village or the captivating beauty of abstract and geometric forms. Bring warmth, inclusivity, and joy to life with bold, uplifting colors that spark wonder and resonate with all ages. To ensure the mural becomes a beloved community centerpiece, proposals should avoid political or sensitive content. Murals are public art, not billboards or signs. No commercial or advertising content, please. Let your creativity shine and inspire Ardsley—submit your mural concept today!
Location: The mural will be located in Louis Pascone Memorial Park. Artists are encouraged to consider the scale, surroundings, and community engagement potential of the site.
Dimensions: 8 x 40 feet
Durability: The mural must be treated with a professional-grade sealant upon completion to ensure long-term durability against weather, UV exposure, and other environmental elements.
Timeline for Completion: The mural must be completed within at least 2 months (with the work created during a timeframe agreed upon between all parties)
Selection Criteria The Arts Commission Art Proposals will be evaluated by the Arts Commission on the basis of:
1. Creativity and Engagement: The mural should be visually striking and invite viewers to explore it.
2. Artistic Excellence: Proposals should reflect the artist’s technical skill and ability to execute a large-scale mural. 3. Mural Experience: the artist may be selected on the basis of prior experience with murals and/or large-scale public art.
4. Ability to Meet Deadlines: the artist must be able to demonstrate their ability to meet deadlines and adhere to all agreed upon timelines.
We welcome submissions from artists at all stages of their careers, especially those with a connection to Ardsley or the surrounding area. Mural proposals that do not meet all of the design criteria/guidelines may be denied or accepted with required modifications. The Village Board of Trustees must approve by resolution of the board all mural designs selected by the Arts Commission to be installed in the Village.
