The Artist Publishing Practicum is a virtual crash course on pathways to book publishing, designed for artists and open to all. Designed to demystify the publishing process for artists and nontraditional writers, the weekend features open-to-the-public workshops led by author-artists, agents, designers, and publishers: Elizabeth Karp-Evans (Pacific), Erika Stevens (Salky Literary Management), Kameelah Janan Rasheed (artist and writer), Karen Kelly (Dancing Foxes Press), Mindy Seu (designer and author, Cyberfeminism Index), Rachel Valinsky (co-founder, Wendy’s Subway; Director of Publications, C.A.R.A.), and Yusuf Hassan (BlackMass Publishing).
The Practicum takes place Saturday, March 22 - Sunday, March 23, 2025. Visit our website for a full schedule of events.
at Louis Place (aLP) is a liberatory community of writers that has provided over 150 writers with access to critique groups, co-writing sessions, guest workshops, peer review exchanges, and more. The online platform and asynchronous offerings enable aLP to prioritize writers who are parents, caregivers, disabled writers and writers with chronic illness, rural writers, and others whose access to in-person creative communities is limited.
The sliding scale registration fee ($25-65) is designed to accommodate as many writers as possible. Registration is capped at 200 writers. Visit our website for more information and to register.
If you (a) need to pay less than $25 to participate or (b) would like to apply for support from our small mutual aid fund to offset lost wages, childcare, or other expenses that would otherwise make it difficult to attend a full day program, please use the “Registration with mutual aid support” form.
