We are offering a grant of 200 USD to artists worldwide focusing on themes of social justice.
This grant is dedicated to Donia Abu Mohsen, a 12-year-old girl who was murdered by Israel this past year.
Donia had both legs amputated and was receiving treatment in Nasser hospital after she was injured when her house was bombed, killing her family. While recovering, Israel bombed the hospital killing her.
“The shell penetrated the ceiling and directly hit her. " Al Jazeera quotes Dr Mohamed Zakout of Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis as saying.
Just before her untimely death, during an interview with Al Jazeera she said “I hope to be a doctor to help people. Now, my life is changing. They have gone. I am alone now without them. I was connected to this life because I was very much connected to my mother, father and siblings who died. But I must continue despite the fact that I will never forget them.”
While Donia will never have the opportunity to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor, we hope our modest grants will encourage artists from around the world to remember her story and pursue their own dreams. .
Submit your portfolio to be considered for the grant. Include your artwork images and a brief biography showcasing your work in social justice themes. We look forward to reviewing your submissions.
Artists must demonstrate a strong commitment to social justice in their work. The selection process will be thorough and fair.
The grant has a rolling deadline, so you may apply at any time.
Please allow 4 weeks for a reply. Thank you.
