Calling All Artists | Group Exhibition “Be Right Back” at A Space Gallery

In a life full of shifts, is there still room for dreams?

We drift through the city—Corner bodegas, bubble tea counters, coffee chains, bar shifts, subway commutes, late night streets... Creation is squeezed into the cracks between shifts: taking orders, sealing cups, serving coffee by day; drawing, editing videos, building models, replying to emails by night. Time is fragmented, energy drained by working hours—but still, we try to carve out a little space, just enough to add a bit of ourselves in.

"Shake" isn’t just the motion of making milk tea—it’s also how we live: Switching roles, blending exhaustion with excitement. Stirring reality and dreams into a personal brew only we drink, quietly, on our own. We’re not here to glamorize the “slash life,” and we’re not chanting “long live the workers.” We just want to admit something simple: artists don’t only create—they survive.

Be Right Back is a space for that in-between. For the art that emerges between shifts, or right after closing time. For the fragments, the half-finished, the almost-forgotten. These pieces may be rough, quiet, messy, or late-but they are real. They are art. And they are records of survival.

We invite you to submit your piece of that survival. We don’t restrict the format—what matters is the expression. Whether it’s an image, a video, a piece of writing, audio, a daily log, or even a fleeting moment in the process of creation—it all deserves to be seen.

Eligibility: Artists at any stage in their career are encouraged to apply.

Accepted Artwork: Painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, digital art, mixed media, site-specific installations, illustration, performance, etc.
