What NYFA’s Artist Advisory Committee is Up to This Summer and Fall
Check out upcoming events and exhibitions featuring our Artist Advisory Committee, which may be in a neighborhood near you!
NYFA’s Artist Advisory Committee provides vital field insights that help NYFA stay informed about the issues affecting artists and their communities. Committee members also convene annually to review and approve the proposed selection of NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellows.
The committee is composed entirely of working artists, and this summer and fall, we’re excited to celebrate several committee members in their upcoming shows and events throughout New York State and beyond.
Here’s what’s coming up:
Kameron Neal is featured in Greater New York 2026 at MoMA PS1 in Queens, NY with the installation Down the Barrel (of a Lens), on view through August 19. The two-channel video installation draws from declassified NYPD surveillance footage filmed between 1960 and 1980, focusing on moments when individuals recognize they are being watched and return the camera’s gaze. These haunting historical portraits raise questions about policing, acceptable intrusion, personal privacy, and quiet protest.
[Editor’s Note: Greater New York 2026 also features NYFA affiliated artists Covey Gong, Maria-Elena Pombo, Kenneth Tam, and Poyen Wang.]

Anna Warfield is included in T3%+!le$ – The Language of Fiber, an international juried exhibition at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, NY, on view now through August 15. The exhibition explores language in all its expressive forms: written, spoken, and illustrative, through contemporary fiber and textile art. Warfield’s work, Pledge, is featured in the exhibition.

Brigitta Váradi is included in ANIMAL BODIES, on view at the Athens Cultural Center in Athens, NY from now through August 16. Curated by Yasmeen Siddiqui of Minerva Project, the exhibition brings together works by Elana Herzog, Jean Shin, and Váradi to explore relationships between textiles, material transformation, design, and the natural environment. Visitors canattend First Friday receptions throughout the exhibition.

Migdalia Cruz will present a public reading of her new play NEVER MOSCOW on Monday, August 10 at 3:00 PM ET at the Todd Haimes Theatre’s HUB space in New York, NY, as part of her Roundabout/Refocus residency. Directed by Lisa Rothe, the play follows Anton Chekhov as he confronts illness, prepares to marry Olga Knipper, and writes Three Sisters, only to find his own characters attempting to intervene in his fate. The reading will be followed by a panel discussion.

Crystal Z Campbell opens their solo exhibition After Touch: Mimosa Pudica at Rivalry Gallery in Buffalo, NY, from September 18 through October 30. The exhibition expands Campbell’s ongoing exploration of overlooked histories through a new body of collages inspired by the touch-sensitive mimosa pudica plant. Drawing from herbarium collections, archival materials, ceramics, painting, and mixed media, the work examines colonial histories, migration, and ecological memory.

Letha Wilson is featured in Second Nature: Photography in the Age of the Anthropocene at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, MO. On view from now through September 12, the landmark exhibition brings together 43 contemporary photo-based artists examining the Anthropocene and the profound impact of human activity on the planet. Through diverse photographic practices, the exhibition addresses climate change, colonial legacies, environmental justice, and imagined futures.

NYFA congratulates these Artist Advisory Committee members on their exciting upcoming projects, and we encourage you to experience their work throughout the season!
