Concepcion 41

Maria Rondeau

Concepcion 41 (C41) is an experimental artist residency project based in La Antigua, Guatemala, sited in what was formerly the convent of La Concepcion. Established in 2013, C41 has operated independently as a critical space open to creative and experimental artistic practices.

Details

The goal of C41 is to promote, engage, impulse, and challenge contemporary art in Guatemala by focusing on interdisciplinary and intercultural collaborations. C41 aims to establish a community of vital people interested in engaging art and culture as a means to inform and expand upon the space and society we occupy.
C41 has developed three different components: RESIDENT ARTISTS selected by invited curators (residencies vary from one week to six months); WORKSHOPS EVENTS and SYMPOSUIMS led by invited artists or curators; and EXHIBITION SPACE to exhibit work by resident artists and traveling shows.

Since 2013, we have hosted four curated events and three Artist Residencies:

  • MOISES BARRIOS, Jan - May 2016 / OPENING MAY 14, 2016
  • EL MUSEO DE LA LUNA, April 2016, curated by Gabriel Rodriguez
  • FELIPE MUJICA + JOHANNA UNZUETA, August 2015
