Contexted Landscapes

Isaac Diggs

Isaac Diggs & Edward Hillel have developed a collaborative art practice informed by cultural memory and the American landscape. Looking at Harlem, Detroit and other American cities through the lens of “Black” space and the contested landscape, Diggs & Hillel examine past and present narratives of the American City. Their first project explored Harlem’s legacy as a Black mecca at a time of impending gentrification, and resulted in the book and exhibition, "125th: Time in Harlem".
