VIRGINIA CREIGHTON/DIFFERENT AT EVERY TURN/ FROM THE PAGE'S EDGE
The exhibit “From the Page’s Edge: Water in Literature and Art” will tour the Northeast in 2011 – 2012, visiting approximately six venues. I have gathered eighteen artists for the exhibit. A painting or drawing by each artist will be a response to writing on the theme of water. Passages from the literary sources will be displayed with the paintings. An audio component may be available to provide extended selections from the work at hand.
The art will present a range of styles from realist to abstract and the choices of literature will be diverse. The intended audience is students and adults. We have booked three venues to date: Moravian College in Pennsylvania, Lake Champlain Maritime Museum in Vermont, and William Paterson University in New Jersey. We plan to book three more venues.
All exhibits and receptions will be open to the public.
We hope “From the Page’s Edge: Water in Literature and Art” will engage viewers and encourage them to look at literature in visual terms.
