Collaboration with Queer Voices
SOFA Chicago experiences 35,000 plus patrons over the four-day fair and offers a dynamic range of ancillary educational programming that spans academia, the non-profit, and workshops. This standalone exhibition would be the first of its kind in the 26-year history of the expo - a booth comprised wholly of queer-artists. Simultaneously it will be one of the first booths to be comprised exclusively of one material - Neon.
Staged at the historic Navy Pier, in the heart of Downtown Chicago, this venue offers an exceptional space to mount this bold gesture, whose primary medium is light. The cavernous, dark, expansive space will enhance, and support the sculptural, wall-mounted works comprised of plexiglass and neon. This will be a truly exceptional venue to restage this culturally significant exhibition and important first stop on the longer arc of “Collaborations with Queer Voices.”
