The Gina Bachauer Memorial Concerts is dedicated to the perpetuation of the memory of the great Greek pianist and humanitarian Gina Bachauer (1913-1976). Based in New York City, our main activities consist of funding, coordinating and promoting the work of prominent Greek musicians through concerts and commissions. We often support emerging Greek artists by featuring them in concert with established international ensembles. Particular attention is also given to highlighting the contribution of Greek composers to classical music. Every concert is dedicated to the memory of Gina Bachauer.
The Gina Bachauer Memorial Concerts was established in 2001, on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of Gina Bachauer. With support from Gina Bachauer Foundation of Greece and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a series of concerts was organized at New York’s Lincoln Center and at the United Nations. Musicians of the Philharmonia Orchestra of London and the New York Philharmonic were invited for that first season. Over the past years, our activities have expanded greatly thanks to the generous contributions of our sponsors. A commissions program has been added, as well as a support program for concerts in Europe.
