is a captivating theatrical work, which takes one woman on a journey of
self-discovery. Embarking on its INTERNATIONAL debut at the National Arts
Festival in Grahamstown, South Africa, this production embodies arts and
activism. Paired with upcoming performances in New York and South Africa, Wéma
Harris and her team are also presenting liberating Roots Connect: Arts and
Activism Workshops. Young people in New York City will participate in these
dynamic activities as well as South African Youth! Roots, Rhythm and
Revolution: Dancing to the Rhythm of the Djembe, clinging to her grandmother’s
brown, beautiful hands…but will she answer the call of a revolutionary? Creatively
awaken your inner thoughts about freedom, oppression, truth and power.
